Teamsters Local Union 182 Endorses Miner for Mayor

Syracuse, NY (Mar. 12, 2009) – Teamsters Local Union 182 has endorsed Common Councilor-at-Large Stephanie Miner for Mayor of Syracuse. Teamsters President and Principal Officer Tim Hogan cited Miner’s “abilities and steadfast commitment to perform the duties of Mayor” in the union’s letter of endorsement.

“I am honored to have the support of the working men and women of Teamsters 182,” Miner said. “They fight everyday to represent the interests of working families in central New York.”

“[Stephanie is] recognized as a candidate who is genuinely concerned for her community and one who is committed to making a difference,” Hogan said. “This area would benefit greatly from [her] endeavors and Syracuse residents will be helping themselves to an improved community when they cast their vote for [Stephanie].”

Teamsters Local Union 182 is affiliated with The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the New York State Teamsters Joint Council 18.

Miner, who announced her candidacy in January, has been Common Councilor-at-Large since 2002 and currently chairs the Education and Human Development Committee. She was the original draftee and sponsor of Syracuse’s Say Yes to Education legislation. She is the former chairperson of the Finance Committee.
